Shadi is an Iranian pianist and Music student at King's College London. Her academic interests lie in nineteenth-century opera, and the role that gender occupies within the discipline of music more broadly. Over her three years at King’s, Shadi has been elected President. As part of her role, she attends meetings with the department and the SSLC, is a mediator with societies, and runs the department Instagram. Aside from her studies, Shadi also interns as part of BBC Radio 3’s “Next Generation Voices” scheme, shadowing various broadcasters - both in live and pre-recorded shows. She also frequently writes opera reviews for the theatre website PlaysToSee. As an instrumentalist, Shadi’s main study is classical piano, and has studied for an ABRSM Diploma. In line with this, Shadi also works as a piano teacher having taught at beginner and advanced levels. Upon graduation, she hopes to continue her studies with a Masters and a PhD in Musicology, with a focus on opera history.
